Oprah has her favorite things, well so do we. The Kitchen Aid mixer is definitely one of our favorite things. It's a must have for any wannabe chef. I admit E uses it much more than I do (I'm very lucky to have found a hubby who loves to cook). With this cold, icky weather we've been homebodies all weekend. We decided to spend the afternoon in the kitchen. We sifted through a few cookbooks and picked out a lemon cake recipe, courtesy of Ina Garten's Parties Cookbook. There was one tinsey-winsey problem we were missing a key ingredient, lemons. We improvised and ended up using oranges. Why not? Anyway, we are looking forward to enjoying a little orange cake for dessert tonight.

Day 21 - Rollin' Away

At work, we have an online bulletin board that people can buy and sell everything from concert tickets to their houses. There is always a ton of kids items posted and this one caught my eye. It is called the vTech Move and Crawl Ball. Cara and I almost got this for Josh for Christmas. It plays music, lights up, teaches letters and numbers, and rolls around all by itself. So far Josh seems to really like it. When he gets too old for it, we will pass it along so someone else can enjoy it.

Day 17 - Our Pal Scout
Scout was one of our favorite Christmas gifts this year. C's parents found him for Josh and he loves him. He came with software that can be loaded on a PC that allows you to change the music, select different words for Scout to say, and customize him so he says Josh's name. Right now, Scout will tell you that Josh's favorite animal is a Monkey and that his favorite food is fried rice. I'm not sure who is having more fun with Scout....Josh or Dad ;-)

Day 16 - What's that saying?
If it's too good to be true...then it probably is. When we bought our home last year the washer and dryer came with the house. I was super psyched about the washer because it had a few more settings than our old one. Shortly after we moved in and started using the washer we noticed that it would move a bit. E would repair it, but it was only a temporary fix. After a while the washer would not just move a little, but would dance all over the laundry room. Not only would it move, but it would make a ton of commotion...like a train running through our house. There is only so much one can take and with us laundering our own diapers we need a reliable machine. Today, we purchased a new top loader (side note: the front loader is really cool but we could not justify spending that kind of money). BTW...HHGregg rocks! They gave us the lowest price and free delivery.

Tonight we celebrated Jim's birthday! Eric was super sweet and made Jim's birthday cake...cupcakes too. The cake is Ina Garten's Beatty's Chocolate Cake and the cupcakes were Ina's Chocolate Cupcakes and Peanut Butter Icing. Both were a hit!!!

Day 5 - No, let Brody do it...
My godson, Brody, is an independent, bright, cute, wonderful little boy. When I tried to help him stack the toys he politely said, "No, C , let Brody do it." Oh how I love this bright boy. I'm looking forward to spending more time with him later this week!
OH and Josh is still sick :( We're heading to the doctor tomorrow. Fun stuff. UGH.
