Day 23 - Favorite Things

Oprah has her favorite things, well so do we. The Kitchen Aid mixer is definitely one of our favorite things. It's a must have for any wannabe chef. I admit E uses it much more than I do (I'm very lucky to have found a hubby who loves to cook). With this cold, icky weather we've been homebodies all weekend. We decided to spend the afternoon in the kitchen. We sifted through a few cookbooks and picked out a lemon cake recipe, courtesy of Ina Garten's Parties Cookbook. There was one tinsey-winsey problem we were missing a key ingredient, lemons. We improvised and ended up using oranges. Why not? Anyway, we are looking forward to enjoying a little orange cake for dessert tonight.

Day 22 - Exhausted

Did you think we were going to post a picture of snow? HA! That's on our other blog. A state of emergency has been declared in the great state of NC. We had quite the "winter storm" last night and it continued on throughout the day. Anyway, this picture was taken earlier today after we ventured out into the snow. Josh was exhausted and fell asleep on his tummy. He is his mama's son.

Day 21 - Rollin' Away

At work, we have an online bulletin board that people can buy and sell everything from concert tickets to their houses. There is always a ton of kids items posted and this one caught my eye. It is called the vTech Move and Crawl Ball. Cara and I almost got this for Josh for Christmas. It plays music, lights up, teaches letters and numbers, and rolls around all by itself. So far Josh seems to really like it. When he gets too old for it, we will pass it along so someone else can enjoy it.

Day 20 - Baby manicure? Not quite.

One of the most scary things you must do to your newborn is to clip their nails. OMG. Their nails grow like crazy and must be clipped often, so they do not tear up their face. So, how do you clip their nails without them squirming, screaming, etc? Like this. You wait until they are completely passed out. Whew. I usually make E do this task. It makes me too nervous. Check out baby's belly. Too cute.

Day 19 - State of the Union

What's on tonight's agenda? Chowin' down on pizza and watching the State of the Union Address.

Day 18 - chillin'

Josh, E and I spend our nights chillin' on the couch. We love our snuggle time.

Day 17 - Our Pal Scout

Scout was one of our favorite Christmas gifts this year. C's parents found him for Josh and he loves him. He came with software that can be loaded on a PC that allows you to change the music, select different words for Scout to say, and customize him so he says Josh's name. Right now, Scout will tell you that Josh's favorite animal is a Monkey and that his favorite food is fried rice. I'm not sure who is having more fun with Scout....Josh or Dad ;-)

Day 16 - What's that saying?

If it's too good to be true...then it probably is. When we bought our home last year the washer and dryer came with the house. I was super psyched about the washer because it had a few more settings than our old one. Shortly after we moved in and started using the washer we noticed that it would move a bit. E would repair it, but it was only a temporary fix. After a while the washer would not just move a little, but would dance all over the laundry room. Not only would it move, but it would make a ton of commotion...like a train running through our house. There is only so much one can take and with us laundering our own diapers we need a reliable machine. Today, we purchased a new top loader (side note: the front loader is really cool but we could not justify spending that kind of money). BTW...HHGregg rocks! They gave us the lowest price and free delivery.

Day 15 - Happy Feet

Josh has discovered his feet. I caught him this morning playing with them and grabbed my camera.

Day 14 - Pooped

Poor kid. This is the result of his check-up today. Two shots, two ear infections, and a cold = a cranky, exhausted baby.

Day 13 - Awe

I was walking past the calendar tonight and noticed this sweet note! We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends.

Day 12 - Birthday Wishes!

Wonderful birthday wishes to our friend, Jim! Happy Birthday! Interesting picture, right? Well, it's the only one of just Jim I took this weekend :) BTW...the turkey was scrumptious!

Day 11 - Picture Perfect

This sweet picture is sitting on my desk at work. I love showing him off. My little sweet pea!

Day 10 - Arrrggghhhh!

We enjoyed spending time with the Du's and Watkins at Marbles over the weekend. I think E had more fun than Preston and Brody on the pirate ship. ARRRGGGHHH!!!

Day 9 - Let them eat cake!

Tonight we celebrated Jim's birthday! Eric was super sweet and made Jim's birthday cake...cupcakes too. The cake is Ina Garten's Beatty's Chocolate Cake and the cupcakes were Ina's Chocolate Cupcakes and Peanut Butter Icing. Both were a hit!!!

Day 8 - Hot and Now

Brody & Jim have been to Raleigh a few times, but they have yet to experience one of our cities most famous landmarks....until today. That's right, we went to Krispy Kreme on Peace Street. We had fun watching them make those famous Hot & Now doughnuts. For me, it was training for the Krispy Kreme Challenge on Feb 6th...at least that's my excuse.

Day 7 - No Day But Today

Happy 30th Birthday, Tracy! We love you!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Day 6 - What do you feel like tonight - Chinese or Mexican?

Why not have both? China Uno is a new restaurant here in the big city of Holly Springs. I have yet to stop in, but from the name it sounds like you can get either Chinese or Mexican? Anyone up for a little Kung Pow Pollo?

Day 5 - No, let Brody do it...

My godson, Brody, is an independent, bright, cute, wonderful little boy. When I tried to help him stack the toys he politely said, "No, C , let Brody do it." Oh how I love this bright boy. I'm looking forward to spending more time with him later this week!

OH and Josh is still sick :( We're heading to the doctor tomorrow. Fun stuff. UGH.

Day 4 - Booger getter outer

Also known as a nasal aspirator. This particular model is the Rolls Royce of booger getter outers and you can only find them at the hospital...SO DON'T LOSE IT! The ones you can buy at stores really do SUCK, but not in the productive way of getting boogies out. Why are we posting a picture of the booger getter outer? Well, Josh has the boogies. He has a cold and right now this device is our friend, along with Little Noses (saline drops).

Day 3 - Is someone having a case of the Mondays?

I thought I would pay tribute to one of my favorite movies: Office Space. Why? Because today is Monday, and a cold one at that, and I have the super cool red stapler in my office. What would they do at your place of work if someone said to you, "Is someone having a case of the Mondays?".

Day 2 - The look

I just love this picture. It screams Cara-stop-taking-pictures-of me :) I can't help it. Doesn't E have the most beautiful eyes? Check out his grizzly beard! Oh how I love this man.

Day 1 - Fill'er Up!

Morning fix. We cannot start the day without a good cup of joe. This is my new favorite mug. Thanks, E :)
